One Word Or Two?

Every day, I set up my everyday setup. Sometimes I have to back up the setup with a backup script I set up a while ago. The backup script will log in with my login and shut down the system with the shutdown command, but if I forget to check out the state of the system then the checkout command will fail. When that happens, I'll need to clean up by running the cleanup script. That puts my whole system on standby, and I'll patiently stand by and hope nothing will break down after the breakdown.

See what I did there?

Lately, I see more and more confusion of nouns and adjectives and adverb phrases, or noun phrases with adverbs. Web sites ask us to “login”. Gyms invite us to “workout everyday.” These mistakes are even finding their way into spell-checkers! Ugh!

I'm not the only one to write about this.
