Terms of use
Last updated 5 October 2026.
Parks Computing is Paul Parks's website at parkscomputing.com, run by him in Singapore. By using it you agree to these terms. The privacy policy says what the site keeps about you.
What the site is
The site publishes Paul's articles and books, and a set of applets you can use in your browser. The articles, books and applets are Paul's unless an article says otherwise, and you may read, use and link to them freely. Copying them elsewhere needs his permission, except where an article or its source code carries a licence that says otherwise.
Your account
An account is for one person, aged 13 or over. You are responsible for what happens through the ways you sign in, so keep your email account and passkeys secure. You can delete your account at any time on the Account page.
Your display name and picture appear beside your comments. Don't use a name or picture that pretends to be someone else, that you have no right to use, or that is unlawful.
Comments
Every comment, and every edit to one, is read by a moderator before it appears, and the site may decline any of them. That isn't a judgement of you; it keeps the discussion on topic and within the law. A comment you post stays yours. You let the site store it, show it with your display name beside the article it belongs to, and keep it in backups, for as long as it is published or until you withdraw it.
Don't post anything that is unlawful in Singapore, or that:
- harasses, threatens, bullies or stalks anyone, or encourages others to;
- reveals someone's personal details, such as where they live, without their consent;
- shares intimate images, or any sexual content involving a child;
- says something false about a real person or organisation that could harm their reputation;
- you have no right to share, such as someone else's work copied without permission;
- pretends to be someone else, or is spam or advertising.
You can edit a comment, which a moderator reads again, or withdraw it, which erases its text at once. A moderator may remove a published comment, and may suspend an account that breaks these terms. Where someone has replied to a comment that is withdrawn or removed, a note says so in its place.
Reporting a comment
Under any approved comment, Report sends it to the moderators with your reason. You can also write to paul@parkscomputing.com, including if you are not a member, for example if a comment harms you or reveals your personal details. Reports are looked at within seven days, and sooner for intimate images, threats or someone's personal details. A report doesn't remove a comment by itself; a moderator decides.
The site complies with lawful directions and orders about content on it, including those of Singapore's Online Safety Commission, under the Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act, and of the courts.
Fair use
Please don't use the site in a way that harms it or other people. That means no attacks on the server, no attempts to get around its limits or into other people's accounts, and no automated use heavy enough to burden it. The site may limit or close an account that does these things.
No warranty
The site is provided as it is, free of charge, and without any warranty. It may be changed, interrupted or shut down at any time, and articles, applets, comments or your data may sometimes be unavailable. Keep your own copy of anything you can't afford to lose; Download your data on the Account page makes one.
To the extent the law allows, Paul Parks isn't liable for any loss that comes from using the site or from being unable to use it, or for what other people say in their comments.
Changes and law
These terms may change. If they do, the date at the top changes with it, and continuing to use the site means you accept the new terms. Singapore law governs these terms.
Questions about them go to paul@parkscomputing.com.
